SECTION 1: GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Library, Arts, History, and Extension Volunteer Coordinator leads all volunteer efforts for the Library, Arts, History, and CSU Extension (LAHE), working closely with staff to design and manage programs that support community needs. Reporting to the Library Office Manager, this role oversees the recruitment, coordination, and recognition of volunteers across diverse age groups and partner organizations. The Coordinator also serves as LAHE's liaison to the city-wide Volunteer Coordinator Specialist, contributing to the development of city-wide volunteer initiatives while advocating for the unique needs of the LAHE department. By representing LAHE in broader volunteer planning efforts, the Coordinator ensures departmental priorities are reflected in city strategies. This role ultimately strengthens community connections and supports LAHE's mission to expand engagement and equitable access to resources. This position will have shifts that will occasionally fall on nights and weekends and will be eligible for a 80:20 hybrid schedule. Implements and oversees the Library, Arts, History & Extension volunteer program by interviewing, training, scheduling and overseeing volunteer roles and placement. Develop and implement strategies for LAHE volunteer recruitment, selection, and training to ensure effective role placement within LAHE and skill-building. Lead communication and outreach efforts to engage LAHE volunteers through various platforms and promotional materials. Collaborate with LAHE staff to identify volunteer needs and develop role-specific training, incorporating ongoing feedback from volunteers and staff for continuous improvement. Represent LAHE in city-wide volunteer initiatives and partnerships, sharing best practices and advocating departmental needs. Plan and implement LAHE volunteer appreciation activities and collaborate with city-wide initiatives amplify appreciation efforts. Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders and organizations to create and enhance fulfilling volunteer experiences for LAHE. Track, maintain, and utilize accurate LAHE volunteer information and program data to identify trends, suggest improvements, and optimize program efficiency. Collect LAHE impact stories for marketing and advocacy. Assist in developing and managing the LAHE volunteer program budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively. Provide input on budget priorities and strategies to maximize impact within budget constraints. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to Libraries, non-profit/business management, social work, or a related field. Experience 1 year experience required in volunteer management - required. Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA), community engagement, public librarianship, or related field - preferred Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin, and English - preferred. Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements): New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment.
